Two truck-fulls of non- perishable food items were donated to Southeast Helping Hands at the annual Fall Food Drive on Friday.

The drive was located by Superstore’s main entrance from 8 AM to 8 PM, encouraging people to buy a little something extra and donate it to a good cause.

Despite an unexpected power outage that forced Superstore to momentarily shut down its tills and close its doors, Southeast Helping Hands Chair Hank Klassen notes the event was a success. He notes the event generated enough donations to easily last them into next year.

“It is very important to us that we have stuff that we can give away and I’d just like to thank everyone that helped, without them, we wouldn’t be here,” says Klassen who adds he is grateful to live in such a generous city.

If people were unable to contribute directly to the food drive, Klassen indicates that Southeast Helping Hands always has bins at Superstore where people can give at any time.
