The Steinbach Fire Department was called out over the lunch hour to a pot fire on Whitby Crescent in Steinbach.

Assistant Deputy Fire Chief Mike Penner explains.

"A pot of oil had caught fire on top of the stove. The homeowner took the pot and brought it outside, be extremely cautious with hot oil. Cover it with baking soda rather than carrying it out flaming. She looked after it well but just be very careful." 

Penner adds there were no injuries.
