Though she was not elected in the 2014 municipal election, Steinbach resident Danielle Funk is once again running for election as a Hanover school trustee in Steinbach, Ward 3.

Funk notes that this persistence is not without reason, indicating a strong desire to serve the community. “I want to be a voice for the students and connect them with the board so we know how our decisions are affecting their experiences.”

Among Funk’s top priorities is communication. She wants to stimulate students, teachers, and parents into giving input into the division wherever they can. “Those are the types of ideas that should help drive the board to make the decisions that will make our school division the best,” claims Funk.

Another key point in Funk’s platform is improving students’ sense of belonging: “I really want Hanover schools to be safe and inclusive places for our children and inspire them to do great things.” If she is elected as a trustee, Funk promises to maintain and grow an atmosphere where students can be continually excited to learn.

Funk believes her time spent as both President/Chair of the Red River College Students’ Association Board and as a mother of kids in the division will be valuable resources if she is elected to the school board this October.
