Ontario Premier Doug Ford issued a personal plea to Manitoba cottagers, who might be thinking about crossing the border into Ontario for the long weekend.

"My message doesn't change -- if it's Manitoba, Quebec or Ontario -- please, just stay home," he said, during his daily media conference Thursday.

The message is being echoed by municipal and First Nation leaders, as the district braces for the crest of COVID-19 cases, during the coronavirus outbreak.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has a simple message for cottagers, who might be thinking about coming into the district for the long weekend.

"Please, the people from Manitoba, if you have a cottage in the Kenora region, please don't come there. Just stay at home. There's not the resources," the Premier continued.

Kenora Mayor Dan Reynard, Grand Chief Francis Kavanaugh and public health leaders in the district have sent similar messages, as they brace for the crest of COVID-19 cases, during the coronavirus outbreak.
