An off-duty police officer apprehended two individuals in Lorette last night after they were seen rummaging through vehicles.

At 3:40 AM, the off-duty officer observed the duo entering vehicles parked along Pioneer’s Trail. He immediately reported the mischief to the St. Pierre Detachment and two additional officers came down to take control of the scene.

The suspects, A 24-year-old male and a 25-year-old female, both from Winnipeg, were taken back to the detachment where they are currently being held as the investigation is completed. RCMP say both will likely be charged with "Theft" and "Possession of Stolen Property" and be remanded into custody. However, no formal charges have yet been laid.

Meanwhile, the detachment acknowledges that similar reports of thefts from vehicles have surfaced in recent months and say a further investigation will be made to determine whether or not those events are connected.
