A Hanover School Division bus could be seen with it’s nose in the air Wednesday afternoon after getting stuck in the ditch near the intersection of Kokomo Road and Evergreen Place.

Robert Warkentin is the Director of Transportation for the Hanover School Division. He says even though it was quite a sight to behold, the situation was resolved quickly with help from a tow truck.

"Basically a bus got stuck, it was actually a turn-around and so the right side dual missed the road and slipped into the ditch and that is one of our challenges with turnarounds now especially with such white conditions out there. We called our bus garage and one of our mechanics went with another bus, he tried giving it a little tug and it got worse and we stopped, we got a tow truck out there to give us a hand and pulled it out and away we went again."

Warkentin says there were four students in the bus when it got stuck and they were all fine.

"They were all high school students, they all contacted their parents so that they knew they would be late and a couple of them even got picked up there. They knew it would be a while until we got someone out there to help and they were only a half a mile from home."

Warkentin notes the driver finished the route with the spare bus then went off to do their second run. He adds the bus was not damaged in the incident and it is now back on the road.
