Since April 1st, the Town of Niverville’s offices has not been admitting visitors.

“Unfortunately, it is no longer a place where we feel comfortable for the safety of our staff,” says Mayor of the Town, Myron Dyck.

Dyck does specify that appointments can still be made for necessary business and that arrangements for the meetings can be made in safe spaces.

“It will be something that depends on the circumstance,” says the Mayor, “but we’ll try to do whatever we can electronically or over the phone.”

Adding to the list of cancellations is Niverville’s Recreation Department which has set a date of April 30th to resume programming.

Council meetings will continue as planned, however, distancing measures will be in place.

Dyck assures that his staff is remaining positive amid the measures that make their lives so different and even finding new ways to make progress.

“With the downturn in the administrative responsibilities of staff, we’re actually doing some cross-training,” says the Mayor citing culvert steaming and flood preparedness as an example.

“They will be assisting our Public Works,” says Dyck, “so, they’re in a good mood and looking forward to new challenges.”
