Niverville Town Council approved a three phase plan to reconstruct and pave Sixth Avenue South.

Niverville Mayor Myron Dyck says phase one of the project will be completed this year.

"Phase one will be digging out the road from Highway 311 halfway to Crown Valley Road. We are going to dig it out, we are going to put down proper granular, we are going to put geotextile, limestone and then top it with A-Base."

Dyck says council tendered out phase one and has awarded the contract to Southwood Ventures at a cost of $253,064. He notes phase two will be done next year.

"Phase two will be to do the second half, digging that out. Phase three it is the intent of council, although there will be an election, that year three would be the paving of that road."

Dyck says the road needs to be completely dug up and reconstructed to deal with ongoing frost boil issues so that it can be a solid arterial road.
