Niverville town council is pursuing a plan that would see their new high school be paired with their proposed multiplex to create a campus.

That according to Niverville Mayor Myron Dyck. He notes the town has hired Stantec Engineering to do a feasibility study to see if there would be significant savings for the province if they went with a campus setup. He notes the report is just being completed now.

"We need to take it to other the various levels of government. We have the federal government that is rolling out phase two of the Build Canada 150, which is supposed to include recreation and so we want to know how can we save other levels of government money at the same time trying to get a multiplex which we believe our community needs."

Dyck notes the provincial government has indicated they have a limited budget and are looking to invest in projects that offer regional initiatives and a good return on investment which is what prompted the initial idea for a campus setup.

Dyck says with both the provincial government and Hanover School Division looking to get the high school project underway, council recognized the need to get outside help. He notes town council approved a motion to hire Former Mayor Gordon Daman as a consultant to the Town of Niverville and a lobbyist on behalf of Niverville.

"He is the best individual that has relationships already established with other levels of government and we need those relationships that are established so that as some of these things are getting fast-tracked we give our residents every opportunity to receive the funding that we would need in order to be able to do that."

Dyck says in addition to having good relationships with other levels of government, Daman is also experienced in working on large community projects.
