The Town of Niverville is working on a number of big projects for 2017, one of them being a joint access plan with Manitoba Infrastructure.

Mayor Myron Dyck says together with Manitoba Infrastructure they will be doing an analysis of a few key Highway 311 intersections within the Town of Niverville.

“That is a provincial highway, we are doing an access plan together with Manitoba infrastructure where we are looking at three intersections in particular. As we have higher traffic flows, do we need turning lanes, do we need streetlights, do we need roundabouts, that is a priority for 2017.”

Dyck says in terms of recreation, the Niverville Multiplex plans are another priority for the town in the coming year. He says they have already begun fundraising and they hope to receive grants from other levels of governments so that they can move forward with the plans. He notes the town will also begin turning one of the old lagoon cells into park space.

Dyck says Town Council expects to see good progress on the town's well bank project throughout 2017. He says Landmark Group and Friesen Drillers have been looking for a new water source for the town and the process should be complete by the end of the year.

“We expect that the Landmark Group will be done with their study and analysis working together with Friesen Drillers to find out where a suitable well bank would be for our community. They expect to have all of that done with the timeline, including construction by the end of fall so we could be in construction on that as well this fall.”

Dyck says Niverville town council run on the philosophy that the town is either moving forward or backward, and he says with continued growth and everything that is planned for the future, they are excited to be moving forward.
