Niverville Heritage Holdings is making the shift from physical growth to organizational growth.

That was the message from the executive team of Niverville Heritage Holdings as they gave their annual presentation to town council this week.

Steve Neufeld is the Chief Officer of Community and Development for the Niverville Heritage Holdings. He says with the completion of the life lease addition and Open Health Medical Clinic last year, they are now shifting more of their focus onto improving their services and sustainability.

"Our property is full now and so one of the things that we are doing is we are creating consultation, we call it a hub. Basically, when communities need assistance in developing their aging in place model when they need some help, we can do that. We have learned a lot over the 15 years so we can provide all kinds of assistance as far as building business cases, doing budgeting, and marketing."

Neufeld says this past year they analyzed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to Niverville Heritage Holdings. He notes it is important that they think about the long-term future of the heritage centre.

"The organization is now 15 years old, it is now a teenager but we need to look into adulthood and what are the next steps. In 2017 we spent a fairly significant amount of time in strategic planning. Probably the most significant change that was made was at the executive level where we went away from a hierarchical system where you have a CEO responsible for everything and we went to an executive team model."

Neufeld says moving forward Niverville Heritage Holdings will put a lot of emphasis on pursuing social enterprise, improving the businesses that operate within their facility, and increasing sustainability so they can start giving back to the community.

"As stated, there are over 300 people that work here, 240 under our auspices, we want to make sure that team members feel that they are valued. We want to make sure that our stakeholders know our commitment to communicating better, more often, making sure people know exactly what is happening. We’ve positioned ourselves well to take those next steps in our growth."
