Niverville preschoolers missing their annual visit from the town’s firefighters are finding that they are not forgotten.

The EMS crew makes a trip to the preschool every year in May to teach them fire safety and let them see all the equipment.

“This year, due to COVID, we weren’t able to,” says Fire Chief Keith Bueckert, “so we decided to bring the Firehall to them.”

They did this by recruiting Mast Creations, a local company that specializes in video production and photography, creating a video complete with safety tips and demonstrations.

The idea was spawned by seeing teacher Irene Falk reading stories to preschoolers online. “We thought ‘why don’t we make this video and she can send it out to the kids,” shares Bueckert, “and it just turned into a fun evening.”

Bueckert says it is easy to ask his crew to get involved in the community because they enjoy it so much and understand the importance.

“We like to keep a high profile in town and support community events because we get so much support from this community.”
