Saturday was a day packed with activity in Niverville as they held the second annual Niverville Winterfest and Market.

Dawn Harris, the Coordinator for the Niverville Chamber of Commerce, says last year the market was held at the high school. She says this year there were some big changes.

"We have more vendors, it is in a bigger venue. It is in the atrium at the Heritage Centre and people are loving it. We are having just great turnout, we have had about 400 people until about 1:30 in the afternoon and we are expecting many more before it is over at three."

Harris says there were over 50 vendors set up at the Niverville Heritage Centre. She notes the cooler weather and beautiful decorations really contributed to the feeling of Christmas that was in the air. She adds there were also many other activities for the whole family.

"There is skating with Santa at the arena, the multiplex is having a fundraising supper for five dollars and then over at the school there are shops for kids where kids can go and buy presents for their families and there is also a sweet shop there."

Harris says the day ended with the community tree lighting at the Niverville Credit Union hosted by the Niverville Chamber of Commerce. She says the Winterfest draws the community of Niverville together.

"I think it is great, people get a chance to talk to each other and meet each other and new people get to come in and see what is around. We're also attracting some people from out of town, so they come in and they look at this and they look at Niverville and say 'wow this is a really neat place'."
