The completed Niverville High School can be seen right next to the CRRC project

Niverville’s Community Resource and Recreation Centre is starting to take shape as construction rolls along.

Eric King is the Niverville Chief Administrative Officer. He says construction is on schedule and they are still planning to open the centre in late February of 2021. He notes their fundraising campaign is now starting to pick up steam.

"We are about half a million in to our three and a half million dollar target. We have sold out, as an example, in the first couple months here, all the naming rights for the dressing rooms and then we have been in meetings every couple of weeks working on our larger naming right donations."

After all is said and done, the CRRC project should cost just under $20M to complete. Of that total, the provincial and federal governments came together to commit $11.3M, the Town of Niverville has put in $5M and private donors are responsible for collecting $3.5M.

Niverville Mayor Myron Dyck says now that the CRRC is moving forward and construction has begun, businesses and residents can finally start to make realistic plans to donate.

"Families are coming together during the holiday season they are going to be talking about this and corporations are making plans. A lot of them had their budgets already set for 2019 prior to 2019 so now that they are going into 2020 we know there are discussions going forward on the corporate side, as they can now plan for 2020 and beyond. We are optimistic and we are looking forward to seeing this goal reached."

King says they have been meeting with a number of corporations over the last few weeks regarding the larger naming right donations. He notes they are also selling seat sponsorships.

"Seat sales have started. They go for $1,000 each and there are a thousand of them for sale for the residential group."
