Niverville Town Council is getting ready for 2019 at their annual planning session this weekend.

Mayor Myron Dyck says their planning session consists of all-day meetings Friday and Saturday where council sits down with all of the different town departments and discusses what is needed in the coming year. He notes a big topic of discussion this year will be the Community Resource Centre, formerly known as the multiplex project.

"2019, the one thing that is going to be driving it is the awarding of the grant for the CRC. If that money comes through, which we have been told it would be sometime during the winter months. If that is done, we do have to get the shovel in the ground and get going on that because we have some deadlines that we need to meet. That is the big thing for 2019."

Dyck says council will also go over a number of requests submitted by the Niverville in Bloom Committee which is dedicated to the beautification of Niverville. He says one recommendation they put forward is further work on the Niverville wetlands park. He says they hope to move forward with trail work and signage near the new timber frame kiosk that has been set up there.

Dyck says with the entire council being elected by acclamation in October, they can dive right into the planning session.

"When we have new councillors coming on, you throw a lot of reading material at them. I have done a number of coffees with them to help bring them up to speed. This time we can hit the ground running, we have the background and we have been working on these things for years so we are looking forward to a really good weekend."
