Niverville Mayor Myron DyckThe Town of Niverville is currently in the bidding process for the 2022 Manitoba Winter Games.

Niverville Mayor Myron Dyck says they have been working on this bid for about a year now. He notes by the time winter 2022 comes around the new Community Resource and Recreation Centre will be completed and that is an important part of the town’s bid.

“It has kind of hinged around whether we would get our CRRC grant. We saw this as a great opportunity to utilize this facility and to showcase it so we are still in the application process. Today we just made another step and it had to do with financial considerations which we were aware of but this kind of just formalizes that.”

Dyck says if the town is able to secure the 2022 Manitoba Winter Games they would need to contribute at least $75,000.

“We are fortunate in that there are some partners that have come to the table and have said they are interested in assisting us to cover that. I do not have the exact breakdown but it is a considerable amount. We are grateful to those partners that are looking to assist us.”

The final location decision for the 2022 Manitoba Winter Games will be announced in January of next year.
