The Niverville Arena is getting a facelift this summer.

“We’re investing more money into this arena,” says Mayor Myron Dyck, “to the tune of about $125,000.”

The renovations will include a new outer-finish that the Mayor estimates at half the cost. Another $60,000 he says will go towards upgrades to the ice plant with the remainder of the work being foundational.

“There were a couple of piers that were needing some help to make sure they were structurally sound,” sums up Dyck in regard to required maintenance.

Dyck reveals that Council has collaborated with the Hanover School Division to have Niverville high school students, along with their art teacher, paint a mural on the west side wall of the arena.

“It’s something that these art students will know they did for this campus,” says Dyck, “and we think that’s pretty exciting to get that kind of integration.”

The Mayor says he saw murals in other communities and thought it was a cool way to show a sense of identity. “Were looking to build a community campus,” offers Dyck.

“We’re looking at a place where the community can come and feel that this is part of what makes Niverville home.”
