A new dust control policy in the RM of Ste Anne is offering residents an option.

“If you were one of the residences that were not receiving it because you were in a house too far set back from the road,” explains Chief Administrative Officer Jennifer Gilmore, “this new benefit allows our ratepayers to have dust control applied to the length of road in front of their driveway.”

Gilmore says last year public works provided the service however, only to certain areas and intersections. This year, residents can apply for the treatment for a cost of $3.20 per metre.

“The other change to the policy includes dust abatement of all intersections on open public roads in the municipality,” says Gilmore. “We had not previously done that.”

Gilmore says the RM of Tache has adopted the same policy and it is one of safety “in order to make sure when you’re crossing an intersection, that it’s not so dusty that you can’t see whether there is a vehicle coming or not”.

Lastly, Gilmore says the new policy makes it easier for Administration to explain why the service has been exclusive in the past and provide the opportunity for a fee.
