Kleefeld's Main Street has taken on a new look this summer.

Hanover Councillor Gord Meneer says revitalizing Main Street actually started a few years ago when former Councillor Clif Bakx kicked off a sidewalk program which involved building a sidewalk along Provincial Road 216.

Then just recently, the new owners of Hanover's Public Works building began remodelling and refacing that shop. Meneer says the changes to that building will bring a very pleasing look to Kleefeld as traffic approaches the community.

Travelling further south, and just north of the Fire Hall, crews have cleared a house and trees off that lot.

"It's really cleaned up excellent," he says. "The hope there is that the new owners will be doing something with that property. If not, it's still a very big improvement to what this community used to have there."

Another change has been the addition of the LED community sign next to the fire hall. A pocket park has been built around that sign. Meneer says this allows people who are going for a walk to stop and have a break. According to Meneer, that park is the center of town and a focal point.

South of that pocket park, the old "sand shack," as referred to by Meneer has been cleaned up and Tri-Me Cabinets has put up a new shop. Meneer says Tri-Me has really made an effort to spruce up Main Street.

"All the different projects that happen this just gives a little recognition to Main Street to show that there's a lot of things happening here in town and it's for the better," notes Meneer.

He says residents are impressed with the changes.

"The changes in town, people are noticing these things and they are commenting on them and they are very happy and very pleased to see these changes happen," says Meneer. "It brings a lot of pride and a lot of respect to the community."
