RCMP are searching for the drivers of a white pickup truck used to back into the front window of New B’s Cafe in New Bothwell at 2:45 AM last Thursday in order to steal an ATM that was inside.

Describing the event, New B’s Manager John Hiebert says the truck’s impact knocked the ATM over and a couple of men jumped out of the truck and quickly drove off with it. As Hiebert understands it, the truck used in the theft was also stolen.

The window was fully destroyed indicates Hiebert, who notes it was removed and replaced by sheets of plywood until proper repairs can be made.

New B’s owner Elle Funk adds that the ATM only contained $460 and the store was up and operational within 12 hours of the incident. "We are so grateful for the community support,” she exclaims “our window is broken, but our spirits are not!”

Police note a similar ATM theft occurred in Landmark back on September 19, but do not yet know if the events are correlated. Both thefts are still under investigation.
