The Kleefeld Fire Department reports there was a near miss Tuesday night on Highway #52, just east of the Kleefeld turnoff. It happened shortly after 7:00 p.m. at the T-intersection where Road 26 E connects to the highway.

Fire Chief John Schroeder says a southbound pickup truck on 26 E blew through the intersection and crashed into the south ditch of Highway #52. He says a motorist who was travelling on Highway #52 told him he slammed on his brakes to avoid a collision after he saw the truck approaching the highway and the driver was not slowing down.

Schroeder says the driver of the pickup, a male in his late teens or early 20's, from the local area, was walking around and did not appear to have any serious injuries.
