The La Broquerie Fire Department responded to an unusual call Thursday evening.

The 911 dispatch came in just after 8pm that a car had collided with a house on Trappers Bay, which is a cul-de-sac just east of La Broquerie. Deputy Fire Chief JC Normandeau says it turned out to be just that.

"A car apparently figured that the road was continuing all the way through so he continued down the driveway and smoked the house. He tried to get away after and got stuck so he's now in police custody I believe. No injuries and no fire so everything is under control."

Normandeau says whether the driver was impaired or if it was just driver error is unknown at this time. He adds there was minimal damage to the house noting the vehicle struck a large planter before hitting the house.
