Steinbach RCMP are asking residents to remove bird-feeders and other bear attractants from their yards after a bear was seen walking through the city earlier this morning.

Corporal Cory Salamandyk says the bear was last observed wandering near McKenzie Avenue and Southwood Drive at around 6:15 AM this morning. He notes Manitoba Conservation has been notified and will be making an effort today to remove the animal from the community.

Though the RCMP remain on standby, Salamandyk says the situation is out of their hands. Anyone who spots the bear is asked to contact Manitoba Conservation immediately.
