A single vehicle mishap Saturday has resulted in a charge of impaired driving.

Steinbach RCMP were notified Saturday, shortly before 3:00 p.m., that a vehicle had hit the ditch along Highway #12 about three miles north of the Trans-Canada Highway, near Provincial Road 501. Officers tested the driver and found he had a blood-alcohol level almost three times the legal limit.

A 70-year-old male from the St. Genevieve area was charged with being in care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired. Police add he was also charged for unauthorized possession of a firearm. They say he had a hunting rifle in the vehicle but his possession and acquisition licence had expired.
