Steinbach RCMP handled 46 calls over the weekend including a couple of domestic assaults and teens creating a disturbance at the T.G. Smith Centre.

Several people were charged with domestic assault over the weekend. One incident occurred during the noon hour Saturday in Steinbach. Investigators say, as a result of their investigation, a 35-year-old male from Steinbach is facing charges of assault. The other incident occurred in the late afternoon Sunday in the RM of Reynolds. Police say a male and a female assaulted each other with weapons. A 44-year-old male from Winnipeg and a 38-year-old female from Lorette are both facing charges of assault with a weapon.

RCMP were called to the T.G. Smith Centre in Steinbach on Saturday. They received a complaint of teens swearing in front of young children. Police say the teens were escorted out of the arena for causing a disturbance and have been banned from the arena for one month.

Meanwhile, local RCMP report they did not catch any impaired drivers this past weekend during the start of their Holiday Checkstop program. However, one motorist was suspended. Officers stopped a vehicle at 1:30 Sunday morning in La Broquerie. The driver, a 34-year-old male from Sandilands, was tested and given a 72-hour suspension for a blood-alcohol level above .05.
