The reeve for the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie remembers 2016 as the year of overland flooding and washed out roads during the spring months.

Lewis Weiss says the disaster happened over the course of five days and, after the majority of problems were repaired, the ground froze only to thaw again and cause additional flooding later that same month.

"Unfortunately we didn't get disaster assistance from the Province. We were left to take care of ourselves financially. So that was another added burden. We're going to go through and we're going to hope that next spring is a whole lot better."

Weiss adds there were also administrative changes and new faces in 2016. He says Anne Burns was hired as CAO in March, a finance manager was brought onto the team in July, and a leisure services coordinator was hired in December.
