With polls set to open at 8 A.M. Wednesday morning for the 2018 Municipal Election, Reeve candidates in the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie are making one last appeal to voters.

Cameron Peters thanks the residents of La Broquerie for being hospitable and friendly as he has spoken to them about their concerns and ideas for the municipality over the last few months. He says good leadership involves listening to people addressing the issues they raise.

“People in the R.M. have expressed that they feel a disconnect, transparency is kind of the catch-phrase. What that looks like to people is different. Moving forward, it is very important to me that people get to express their ideas, their own vision for the community, their needs and wants so that we can incorporate them in our planning and moving ahead in our community.”

Peters says he is focused on moving La Broquerie forward with affordable, sustainable growth.

"Finances are important to me, leadership involves listening to people, communicating those ideas with council and implementing those ideas for the benefit of everyone at an affordable cost. I have in mind, comprehensive financial strategy together with a five-year infrastructure plan that will be implemented in the months following the election."

Peters says he brings leadership and vision to La Broquerie for continued growth and success.

Lewis Weiss says in talking with residents, a number of issues have come up as priorities including infrastructure issues and drainage but one topic has come up more than any other.

"Going door to door, by far taxes is the biggest complaint and issue. Many people get very loud and very concerned, I feel for them and I am willing to work hard to solve that issue."

Weiss says he is prepared to fight for the things that matter to all residents.

"I need all of you to go out there and spend a few minutes of one day for me and I will fight for you all for four years. Many people don’t want to get involved in politics. Come out and vote and I will handle that part for you. Just remember, your vision, is the vision I have for you. I carry out your vision that you have given me over this time. I will work for you."

Polls open at 8 A.M. and close at 8 P.M.
