Farm Credit Canada's Drive Away Hunger campaign filled the shelves of Southeast Helping Hands this week.

Hank Klassen the chair of Southeast Helping Hands says this food drive brings in approximately 80% of their non-perishable food items for the entire year. He adds now that they're sharing with the Grunthal and Ste. Anne food banks, they have to be able to keep up and bring in that much more. Klassen says he's pleased with this year's collection.

"In total, we'll be very close to 20,000 pounds, its down a little bit from last year but not much so I'm very happy."

As for the next few weeks, Klassen notes they have fantastic volunteers coming to help sort and place the food into milk crates to prepare it for storage. He expresses his appreciation for everyone who contributed to this year's food drive.

"I would just like to thank everybody. Farm Credit Canada, the schools, the youth, the radio station and the general public for making this all such a wonderful time of year."
