Niverville Incumbent Councillor John Funk has announced he is seeking a seat on town council once again in the October Civic Election.

John Funk has been a town councillor in the Town of Niverville for nearly 30 years.

"I have been a councillor for many years and I know what it takes to get a lot of the things done so I think I am an asset to the town. When I first ran way back my children were active in all of the sports, my parents were aging so I knew at that time we needed more sports infrastructure."

He notes since was elected to council, they have made major steps to upgrading and building new recreational facilities such as the ball diamonds and soccer park. He notes a big priority is to see the proposed Community Resource Centre multi-plex through to completion.

"The biggest one is the completion of the high school being a complex with the Community Resource Centre, that one we hope to iron out as early as November or December so that is an active one that we are working on."

Funk says he wants to make sure his grandchildren have ample recreation opportunities in Niverville but notes he is also mindful to not put too much pressure on the Niverville tax base. He adds he is excited to serve on Niverville Council for another term.
