The Christmas lights are going up on Main Street and all across Steinbach it seems things are gearing up for a white winter.

“We started last week actually,” says Abigail, a City of Steinbach employee.  “We did a bunch of other places in Steinbach and then Main Street is the last stretch we’re doing.”

Abigail says it takes her and her colleague approximately 5 to 10 minutes to put lights on a small tree, but up to half an hour for a big one.

“We’re having a pretty good time,” shares Abigail’s friend and colleague Stephanie.” I get to hang out with someone who is my friend, we’re putting up lights, and it’s kind of challenging sometimes, but definitely worth it.”

Stephanie admits that blocking off Main Street can create some difficulty for motorists, however, the passing pedestrians have expressed excitement for the season.

“Most of the people walking by are saying things along the lines of ‘oh, it’s that time of year again’, and we kind of just nod and laugh because, I mean, it is.”
