Student attendance in the Southeast is better than the provincial average.

Superintendent Randy Dueck of the Hanover School Division says their average attendance rate for the past year was 93.9% compared to the provincial average of 92.9%.

"It's the average attendance of students in our school on a regular daily basis. We take attendance each day," notes Dueck. "I'm impressed by [the provincial average of 92.9%]. I think that's a really good indicator of some of the good things that schools throughout the province are doing. Obviously, [in the Hanover School Division] we still need to reach out to that 6.1% and try to improve on that. But I think we have a very good attendance rating throughout the division."

Dueck says most of their schools individually are around the division average and notes it's great to see kids continuing to come to school each day.

Meanwhile, the attendance rate in the Seine River School Division is 94.7%, DSFM is 96.5%, and Red River Valley School Division is 94.0%.
