To help rebuild a church in Haiti, a fundraiser will be taking place on January 28.

Tavia Funk has worked in Haitian orphanages during four previous trips to the country and, during that time, met her husband who still lives in Haiti. Funk says the church, where her husband attends, was destroyed during the hurricane in October.

"[The fundraiser is called] The Taste of Haiti. This will be my fifth trip in May and what I'm looking at doing is sending a biotech structure from Winkler Canvas and shipping it to Haiti for their new structure."

Funk says she will be traveling with her sister and a friend. Tickets for the fundraiser can be bought in advance from Funk my calling 204-355-4202. The fundraiser will take place at the Pat Porter Active Living Centre on January 28 and feature traditional Haitian food and entertainment by Island Breeze.
