The Chief Creative Officer for the Steinbach Arts Council says in 2018 she would like to see the arts become a greater part of the community.

Cindi Rempel-Patrick says they are wanting to work on programs to help instill creativity in employees to benefit the community businesses.

"We find there are a lot of creative people within the businesses. Businesses have people who have skills so they can do their work within their industry, but the difference that makes a business spectacular is when they are creative and innovative. That's something the arts does."

Rempel-Patrick says other projects for 2018 include various creative wellness programs. She notes there will be programs for children, youth, and seniors to benefit them emotionally, mentally, and physically.

"I know we have a children's program in theatre which helps children with autism or ADHD, and just helping to create confidence and self-esteem within children is very beneficial. We're looking at some wellness programs for youth, youth at risk. Having opportunities for them to actually foster their artistic abilities in a safe setting. We're also looking at seniors. Seniors often find a loss of purpose and often the arts can help to revive that sense of purpose."

She adds in 2018 they will also begin to plan for the spring 2019 community musical, noting auditions will be held in the fall.
