The La Broquerie Fire Department was called out shortly after 3:30 Thursday afternoon after a gravel trailer clipped an overhead hydro line.

Chief Al Nadeau says it happened about one mile south of Highway 52 along Carriere Drive.

Nadeau says the driver had already dumped the load and after clipping the line he became stuck, not able to move forward or backwards.

He hit a ground wire and Nadeau says he would not have been harmed had he stepped out of the truck. He was not injured and chose to remain inside the cab until Manitoba Hydro crews arrived. Manitoba Hydro was expected to show up around 4:30.

Nadeau says the driver did the right thing.

"He stays in the truck until he knows everything is safe," says Nadeau. "If you hit a hydro line like that, stay in your car because your tires are insulating you from that ground so you are safe until you step out."
