Having grown up in the R.M. of La Broquerie, Tyson Giesbrecht is looking to get more involved in the community and is running for a spot on council in Ward 1.

Giesbrecht says if he is elected, he is prepared to take a hands-on approach by working with residents to find solutions to some of their issues.

"I have had a lot of people complain to me about things they wanted to do and couldn’t get done or problems with drainage or poor roads, wanting to know where funding is going and not knowing why taxes are so high but services aren’t very good. I have watched council over the years and I have been highly interested. I would really like to get my hands dirty and get more involved in the community."

Giesbrecht says he has lived in the heart of La Broquerie for his entire life and wants to help make it an even better place to live. He says in talking to local residents, it seems that there has been resistance to development in the municipality and unnecessary red tape.

"I would like to get more transparency, more solutions to problems instead of so many problems created for people. I would like to be able to answer people with more of a solution rather than more of a problem. I have been finding people want to do things and they find that there is a rule that stops them. I would like to make it possible for them to achieve their goals."

Giesbrecht says he wants all La Broquerie resident so know that he is willing to listen to their concerns and suggestions.

Giesbrecht is one of four candidates in the Ward 1 in the R.M. of La Broquerie and residents will elect three of those candidates. For the full list of Ward 1 candidates go to the Steinbachonline election page.
