Niverville town council covered a wide range of topics at their annual planning session this past weekend.

Mayor Myron Dyck says council met at Providence University College for meetings all day Friday and Saturday. He notes throughout the year council sets aside topics that require greater thought and discussion, then brings them to the planning session.

Niverville Mayor Myron Dyck"Whether it is topics of capital projects, whether it is topics of human resources, whether it is equipment, whether it is infrastructure, you go through all of these departments and the things that have been raised through the year and all of the things that council may want to raise during that time, this is when these types of things get discussed."

Dyck says council also looks at some of the major projects that are set to begin in the town of Niverville.

"We know that in 2018 two of the major projects that are coming, one will obviously be the high school starting construction in May so we need to make sure we have staff time and resources to do whatever infrastructure we are going to need as far as roads, water, sewer, etc. and then the multiplex."

Dyck notes if Niverville receives funding for the multiplex plan from the federal government in 2018 they need to be ready to make sure resources are set aside for that. He notes another main focus of discussion during their planning session was human resources.

"With the growing community we deal with HR, what are the needs in our departments. That was actually a large conversation this particular planning session was around staffing needs, making sure we are meeting the needs for that. We had various delegations come in."

Dyck says council will now wait for their minutes to be compiled. He notes they are excited about the future of the Town of Niverville.
