Emerson MLA Cliff GraydonEmerson MLA Cliff Graydon is unequivocally apologizing for inappropriate remarks he made to a staff member at the Manitoba legislature.

In a statement released today, Graydon says his apology has been graciously accepted by the individual affected.

He is also apologizing to his colleagues, constituents, and to his family, all of whom he says expect and deserve greater respect than he has demonstrated.

Graydon acknowledges that everyone has the right to a safe and respectful workplace, and says he will be taking comprehensive sensitivity and respectful workplace training.

In light of this incident, Graydon says he will serve the remainder of his current term but will not seek re-election in the 2020 provincial election.

The MLA says serving the people of Emerson since 2007 has been one of the greatest honours, but admits it is time to move on to the next chapter of his life.

Graydon also announced today that effective immediately he will be taking a medical leave of absence.
