"It's been quite an experience to say the least, we went through amalgamation here this last term with Emerson, it's been good," said Janzen.

"To be a part of getting RTAC highway up to Dominion City was a big thing, to get some reconstruction of the Friedensthal drain and the main drain is a big one, the Arnaud water project was also another big one, to be part of Abbeyfield start in Dominion City... there's been a lot of things."

He added it was a learning experience for him, and enjoyable for the most part.

"It's time for maybe somebody else, a new leader, to build on what we've done or change some things. I think after 2 terms as head of council it's time for me to move on," he said.

Janzen also hopes his announcement encourages others, who are thinking of running for the position, to take the next step.
