The Reeve for Hanover says their enumeration for the October municipal election proved very ineffective.

Stan Toews says he is not sure what happened, but many residents were not on the voter's list. He says they will probably change their method for the next election, following the lead of other municipalities.

"Open it up online that people can register or if they are not capable online, they can call the office and register," says Toews. "So it will be up to the people themselves to make sure that they are registered."

The 2018 election ended up costing Hanover $29,754. That is well under their budget of $45,000. That money is used to purchase ballots, pay for wages and scrutineers and rent facilities.

Meanwhile, Toews says they will likely need to review their ward boundaries prior to the next election. The review will probably happen 12 months in advance. Toews says the review will be necessary to accommodate growth. He notes right now Mitchell and Blumenort are their fastest growing communities.
