Arts students from Ecole Real-Berard in St. Pierre put on the school’s first ever dinner theatre production this past week.

Principal Angele Comeau says the show ran Wednesday and Thursday night in St. Pierre.

"It was 'The Beauty Is The Beast' so it was a reproduction of the original with a twist. It was our students from the dramatic arts and our band students who were playing live during the production as well."

Comeau says the show was rife with French and local references, for example, the prince came from St. Malo. She notes the audience response was exactly what they were hoping for.

"From what they were telling me, it was semi-professional, they were blown away. The kids did so much ad-libbing and improv that became a part of the show that there were no miss-steps because the kids were in their characters the whole time. It far exceeded our expectations."

Comeau says with this experience under their belt’s, they hope to do a similar show at Ecole Real Berard in the coming years.
