The ski and snowboard season may already be in jeopardy in parts of Manitoba due to severe drought conditions.

Holiday Mountain Resort has announced that it will not open for the 2021/22 winter.

According to the Resort's social media post, the unprecedented drought that southern Manitoba is experiencing has significantly impacted the water source used to make snow for the local runs in La Rivière. Without the ability to make snow, the resort cannot open, added the post.

"Thanks to all our loyal customers and staff for more than six decades of support," noted the social media post. "Hope to see you all in December 2022."
