An inter-municipal road was damaged by a manure hauler in the spring of 2017 and the RM's of Stuartburn and La Broquerie are now on the hook for the cost of repairing it.

Road 18N, just south of Zhoda, is an inter-municipal road and La Broquerie Reeve Lewis Weiss says they were informed about the issue and their $3,994.25 cost in December. Weiss adds when a hauler damages a road in the municipality, it's handled differently.

"In the past I think maybe sometimes we're billing it to the haulers and other times, depending on the damage, we'll just go with the grader and straighten it out. But we're trying to come up with a policy where it can be moved onto the person who damaged the road so all the taxpayers are not responsible for those costs."

Council carried the motion to pay half the cost of repairing the road with the understanding that if the hauler makes a payment, the RM of Stuartburn will reimburse the RM of La Broquerie their portion.
