Canadian Tire may be famous for their fake “Canadian Tire Money”, but that gives no excuse to a man who used a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase goods from the store early last week.

Andrew Lambert, Floor Manager at Canadian Tire, says RCMP are looking for the thief who committed the crime on September 4.

At a quick glance, the bill looked like any other, claims Lambert who does not accuse the cashier who accepted the money. Although anybody could have made the mistake, Lambert informs that a second analysis quickly revealed the counterfeit bill had an altered security strip and was lacking serial numbers.

“We are usually very careful and this has never happened [before],” indicates Lambert, “but I know everybody is being super vigilant now."

Lambert says this same man had already been suspected of stealing from the store in the past. He adds, thanks to security footage, RCMP already know who the perpetrator is and are in the process of tracking him down.
