The owner of Marc Hutlet Seeds at Ste. Anne says there was good progress on the harvest of grain corn over the past week. Marc Hutlet says the crop has dried down very nicely in recent days and that has enabled producers to go hard.

"We're over 50 per cent now for sure and we'll maybe hit 75 per cent in the next couple of days if weather permits."

Hutlet says yields are varied.

"We've peaked at some fields hitting 165-170 (bushels per acre) and then you can drop all the way down to 100 in the drier conditions or, one could say, almost drought conditions in our south areas like Grunthal, Kleefeld and some of the backside of the Friedensfeld area."

Hutlet says quality is generally good with bushel weights of 52-54 pounds.
