The Mayor of Tache says they should be able to move into their new municipal office and public works building by the end of April.

Last summer, crews began work on the new building going up at the corner of Provincial Road 206 and the Trans Canada Highway. It had a price tag of $3.7 million. When construction first

started Robert Rivard acknowledged they are building the public works shop bigger than what they currently need in order to prepare for the future. He adds building it as one structure saved them a lot of money.

The goal was to move in by the end of March.

"There was a slight delay in the project because Hydro had to bring new lines in from a little bit of a distance away," notes Rivard. "They are still waiting to get the actual Hydro hookup so that they can do all the finishing work on the inside."

According to Rivard, PCL Constructors should have the work completed by the second week of April. After that, they will check over all the systems and the municipality should be in by the end of April.

Rivard says crews right now are working on the building's interior. He notes the mechanical work is pretty much done, though they are still in the process of hooking up floor heat.

Once they have moved out of their current office in Lorette, Rivard says there are a couple of community groups looking to take over that space. He notes the municipality will continue to own that building and after some renovations will probably allow the local food bank and Thrifty Treasures to move in. As for their old public works building, that will be taken over by the Local Urban District of Lorette.

Rivard says aside from a few items that have been added along the way, the project is staying on budget.
