Council for the Rural Municipality of Hanover has given the green light to NetSet Communications.

Reeve Stan Toews says they wish to construct a communications tower within Hanover. The 250-foot guyed tower will go up on a parcel of agricultural land approximately three-quarters of a mile west of the Steinbach boundary and one mile north of Highway 52.

In recommending council approve the tower, Hanover's Planning Manager reminded Councillors that approximately ten years ago, a 300-foot tower was approved along Keating Road, one kilometre from the proposed site. That tower has never raised any concerns among landowners.

Toews notes the proposal by NetSet did not generate any opposition from nearby residents. Furthermore, council was unanimous in approving the request.

NetSet has stated the tower is necessary due to a lack of available tower space. The intended purpose of the tower is to provide additional wireless Internet services to residents and businesses in the surrounding area.
