Westbound traffic on Highway 1 slowed to a crawl just east of Deacon’s Corner due to a collision Wednesday morning.

The two-vehicle collision happened shortly before 7:30 A.M. RCMP report a vehicle pulled onto Highway 1 and was accelerating slowly due to icy conditions. Another vehicle travelling behind couldn't pull into the passing lane because of traffic and ended up rear-ending the vehicle in front.

Tache Fire Chief Allan Rau says each vehicle had a single occupant and both were looked at by EMS and released at the scene. He notes traffic was down to one lane for around 45 minutes while the collision was cleaned up and a tow truck was called.
