RCMP have released some details about a multi-vehicle collision Sunday night on the floodway bridge on the Trans-Canada Highway, just west of Deacon's Corner. They were called to the scene at 9:45 p.m. after numerous vehicles went out of control and crashed on the bridge.

A local motorist, who chooses to remain anonymous, says the roadway went from being wet to being a sheet of ice on the bridge deck. He says it felt like being in a pinball machine as vehicles bounced off of each other. His vehicle was totalled but he and his wife were not injured.

Police say at least six vehicles were involved but there are reports that as many as 17 vehicles sustained damage. RCMP note three vehicles and a semi had to be towed from the scene.
