Erin Harder of Winnipeg is with the Child Passenger Safety Association of Canada. She will hold a clinic at the fire hall from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. where you can have your car seat checked and get information on the proper way to use it. Harder adds there are some common errors when it comes to child car seats. She gives some examples.

"People using a seat that isn't appropriate for their child or for their vehicle, placement issues, their car seats aren't sitting properly in the spot in the

vehicle where they have them, lower anchor weight limits are a newer thing, a lot of people don't that they exist and a lot of people are installing their car seats using lower anchors for a child that is actually too heavy to be using those lower anchors."

Harder says people who come to have their car seats checked should bring along their vehicle manual and car seat manual, if possible. She says it takes between 30 and 60 minutes for a complete inspection. Harder says this should be a priority for people.

"If you're not using your car seat properly every single time your child is in it, it's not a safe seat."
