A hockey coach from Sagkeeng First Nation has been charged with uttering threats following an incident in Ste. Anne in November. The incident on November 25th was at a game involving ten-year-old hockey players.

Ste. Anne Police Chief Marc Robichaud says the Atom hockey coach allegedly used a string of profanities in threatening to assault two teenage referees.

"He had threatened to cut their heads off in the parking lot, is basically the context of it," explains Robichaud.

Some concerned people at the arena contacted Ste. Anne Police. Robichaud says several days later the coach was arrested by Powerview RCMP.

The two refs were a 16-year-old male and 17-year-old male. Robichaud says his detachment has been in contact with the two teenagers and it appears they are doing alright.

Robichaud says the coach, who is not being named, is a male adult. He has a court date set for January 18 in Steinbach.
